Colorado Springs Dentist, Brent Nielsen, spent his early life just south of Denver in Highlands Ranch where he moved with his parents (Les and Carol) and brothers (Scott and Aaron) in the summer of 1989. He quickly grew to love Colorado and all that it had to offer. Hiking, biking, skiing and fishing became favorite pastimes during countless hours exploring the mountains along the Front Range. In 1996 he graduated from Highlands Ranch High School and headed off for new adventures in the mountains of Idaho and Utah as he completed his undergraduate education at Brigham Young University.
While in college, Brent met and married his wife Julie and they both headed off to Florida where he pursued his dental education at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. While in Florida Dr. Nielsen and his wife welcomed their first child, Clementine, into their home during his final year of dental school. After a grueling four years of rigorous dental training he earned his dental (DMD) degree and began planning his future.
The opportunity arose to continue his dental education further at Yale University in New Haven Connecticut. Dr. Nielsen was one of three young dentists to receive the invitation to study with the Yale University School of Medicine General Practice Residency program. This highly competitive program opened new doors and an infinitely greater understanding of the practice of dentistry. While at Yale he gained hands on experience and individualized training by some of the most well respected and highly specialized dentists and medical professionals in the world. Included in this residency were rotations through internal and emergency medicine, anesthesia and general surgery, as well as oral surgery and pediatric dentistry. This experience has made Dr. Nielsen uniquely qualified to handle a wide variety of complex dental needs while providing patients with the comfort, clinical expertise and care they should expect and deserve.
Following his residency in Connecticut, Dr. Nielsen decided to bring his talents back to the great state of Colorado! In the summer of 2009 he returned to Denver and began practicing as an associate dentist at a couple different group practices. During this time he and his wife had their second child Lily, giving him his long awaited “Native Coloradan.” Clementine soon warmed up to her new little sister and have since become inseparable. Having two girls and an overload of estrogen in the house has helped Dr. Nielsen reestablish his love for the Colorado mountains and hone his skiing, snowboarding and fishing skills to unimaginable levels!
While appreciative of the opportunities working in these group practices afforded him, Dr. Nielsen felt he could be of greater assistance to patients in a solo practice setting. So, the search was on to find the perfect place to practice. After many hours, days and weeks searching, he found a place to land in the foothills area of Northwest Colorado Springs in the Mountain Shadows Neighborhood. Being one of the practicing dentists in Colorado Springs has been a great experience for Dr. Nielsen where he has forged lasting bonds with his patients and the communities of Mountain Shadows, Peregrine, Rockrimmon and the Garden of the Gods areas.
